The training and competition of the Swimming and Diving events of the 2009 Gymnasiade are planned to take place in the Hamad Aquatic Centre.

Located approximately 8 kilometres from the Centre of Doha, the Hamad Aquatic Centre is one of three competition venues in the Aspire Zone precinct.

The Hamad Aquatic Centre consists of two full size aquatic complexes built adjacent to one another with a direct connection.

Swimming Complex 1

The Complex will host the scheduled training for Swimming and Diving.

The facility in its present form includes:

• 50m, 10 lanes Training pool
• Diving Training pool with diving boards and platforms
• 25m Training pool
• Changing rooms
• VIP area with basic catering facilities
• Storage areas
• Operational rooms, and
• Seating capacity of 1500.

Swimming Complex 2

The Complex will host scheduled training and competition for Swimming and Diving.

The facility includes:

• 50m, 10 lanes Competition pool
• Diving Competition pool
• Spectator concession, Ticket Resolution Point, Venue Information Point, and accessible access with a lift
• Operational spaces such as Athlete change rooms, VIP/ Guest lounge, Medical, Doping Control, Media, Broadcast and Technology rooms.
