The official Logo of the Gymnasiade has been created by the well known graphic designer Mohammed Nori.

His idea was to combine in one symbol the main characteristics of the host nation – Qatar – and the sports and events of the Gymnasiade – athletics, gymnastics and swimming.

The symbol pictures a man in motion where the movement of running, swimming and the move of a rhythmic gymnastics apparatus – the ribbon – can be seen. The shape of the symbol is in the line with the initials of the host country – Q as Qatar.

The colours of the Logo symbolise the sun, the sand, the sea, the vegetation and also the official colour of the flag of the State of Qatar – maroon.

The design has been completed to further promote universal understanding, therefore the name of the event – Doha Gymnasiade 2009 – is highlighted in both English and Arabic.
